I have read the whole series of the Dirk Pitt adventures and have started to reread the series once again but this time in correct order of the adventures. My first reading of the Dirk Pitt adventures was "Atlantis Found". I started reading this novel because of my interest in Atlantis and other lost civilizations. Dirk Pitt is kind of a Indiana Jones character but in water, very deep water. I love the way that Cussler weaves past histories in a current setting along with possible myths that might have some truth in fact to them.
Two movies have been made of the adventures, first "Rising the Titantic" with Richard Jordan as Dirk and the other is "Sahara" with Matthew McConaughey as Dirk.

I found this a Very Interesting Read! I like how you mentioned Cussler's books that were made into movies. One could get a 'sneak preview' before reading the novel! OR..after reading the book have the chance to see the pages come to Life on film. Nice choices!
ReplyDeleteI love the perspective you get after having read books once, you read them again in order. Knowing what will happen doesn't ruin the story, it gives you the luxury of being able to pay attention to detail that you missed before and understand how each story fits in a larger framework. I do that with several of my favorite series as well.
